Is Lucentay a dating app?
No. Lucentay is for Muslim adults who are seeking marriage. It is not designed for casual dating, and using it for any other purpose goes against our Terms of Service.
Who can join?
Anyone who is at least 18 years old and is seeking marriage within an Islamic framework. You will be asked for your date of birth when you set up your profile, and accounts that give false information can be removed.
What is the role of my guardian (wali)?
Naming a guardian is optional. A sister can add up to three people to her Family Circle, such as a father, brother, or uncle. Each one receives an email letting them know they were named, and can stay informed as her matches progress. The goal is that family is part of the process from the start, not told after the fact.
What does Imam Verification mean?
You can name an imam from your local mosque. We contact them directly by email, and if they confirm that you are known in their community, a badge appears on your profile. It is one person vouching for another. It is a meaningful signal, but it is not a background check.
Why can I not message someone straight away?
On purpose. Every match moves through a structured 30-day journey, and messaging opens in week three. The first weeks are for reviewing each other's profiles and involving family, so that pace shows intent before words do.
Who can see my photo?
You decide. Your matches can always see your photo. A setting in your profile controls whether people browsing Discover can see it before you have matched.
How does Lucentay keep conversations respectful?
When a message contains language that suggests meeting in private, or shares a phone number, email address, or social media handle, the sender sees a gentle reminder. It never blocks a message. An automatic AI review also looks for signs of pressure, and our moderators can see any message it flags. Anyone can also report a profile, and a permanently banned account cannot sign up again with the same email address. No platform can guarantee another person's character, so we also encourage you to involve your family and use your own judgment.
Can I end a connection?
Yes, at any time, and without the other person's agreement. You choose a reason, and you may add a short note. Messaging stops once a connection has ended.
How much does it cost?
Lucentay is free to use today. A paid tier is planned, but it is not available yet, and its terms will be published here before it launches.
